You went where!!!!!?

It’s Alexandra Finch, coming to you once again from Maycomb County. I have had such a terrible day! I was taking a nap in my room while Atticus was at the court house acting as Tom Robinson’s defense in the horrific rape trial, when I woke to find Jem, Scout and their good friend Dill missing. I had given Calpurnia the day off because I did not see the point in having her around so there was no one there that I could go to for help. As everyone else was at the trial, I went on a search for the children myself. I checked all the spots that seemed to be the most likely for them to go. I searched Finch Landing, went to Miss Rachel’s house and even checked the mysterious Radley house up the street. That has got to be the scariest place on God’s great earth! If you do not believe me and think that I am being melodramatic, I have included a picture of the house.

…It is terrifying to say the least but anyway, I am way off topic now. Eventually I decided to go to Calpurnia’s house and see if the children sneeked off to see her. But when I got there, I discovered that she had not seen them either. The two of us partnered up together, which I was not happy about, by the way, and searched the rest of the places that I missed. Eventually we decided that we should let Atticus know that his children were missing. I wrote the note and Calpurnia said that she would take it to the court house. I went home, that way if the children came back, I would be here waiting for them. A short while later, Calpurnia returned with Jean Louise and Jem. I almost fainted when they told me where they were. They were at the court house watching the trial! Fellow bloggers, can you believe such a horrible thing! Why, letting children go to Tom Robinson’s rape case is like, letting a child go to Emmett Till’s murder case! You can find out more about Emmett Till be going to this site. http://www.emmetttillmurder.com/
Now back to my tale. The worst part of this whole thing was finding out that Atticus was letting them go back after supper to hear the verdict! My brother may not be a very good parent but I thought that he would know better than this, My, My, MY!  His children are never going to grow up to be proper Finches at this rate, and I’m not being much help if all I do is blog. Goodnight blogging community! Tune in next time for more incidents from the life of Alexandra Finch.

To Keep the Maid...or ship her off... that is the current argument

Hello world of blogs! It is the wonderful Alexandra Finch once again. I'm blogging to tell you of another incident from my adventure filled life in Maycomb County. Today's problem is that Atticus will not be rid of the black maid, Calpurnia! here is a picture of her...

It has been OK having her around but then I found out what she did today and I decided that it was time to get rid of her. I was sitting calmly in the living room doing some embroidery, something this family does not understand, when I heard Jean Louise, my niece, for all of you that missed my first blog, mention that Calpurnia had taken her and Jem to the black church that day. I was so shocked that I put down my embroidery and just stared at her. Next I knew she was asking Atticus if she could go visit Calpurnia after church next Sunday! I could not believe my ears! After she threw a mighty fine fit when I told her that she could not, she ran off and I took that as an opportunity to convince Atticus to throw Calpurnia out. Now, I'm not racist, but now that I am here, I do not see the point in having a maid. I tried to tell him that but he would have none of it, saying that the family needed her more than ever and that he saw no harm in Jean Louise going out there. I’ll say, if Atticus keeps letting his daughter run around and get involved in a black maid’s personal life; she will never grow up to be the proper Finch lady that she is supposed to be! Sigh, it is times like these when I remember why I moved down here. These children, especially Miss Jean Louise, need to start acting like Finches! But I am exhausted from all this arguing with Atticus about Calpurnia so I am going to sign out but do not fret, I will be back later. For now I say goodbye and goodnight.

Why Girl's Should Never Wear Pants

Hello my fellow bloggers! This is Alexandra Finch. Attached above is a lovely picture of myself for you to enjoy. I'm writing my entry today about why a girl should never wear pants. You may ask me why I choose to write about this and you shall see.Well, today I had a run in with my niece, Jean Louise Finch. She just cannot seem to grasp the concept that young ladies should dress like ladies and not boys. She runs about wild with her brother, Jem, in nothing but a t-shirt and overalls. Overalls...of all things! This is why I, Mrs. Alexandra Finch, came to live in Maycomb County with my brother Atticus Finch. His children need to be taught how to properly act like a Finch but Atticus does not seem to have the heart to do anything about it. He just wants them to be happy. How sweet! Well, I say that they will be even more happy when they act properly and are accepted by society. I believe that teaching these children to act proper is a hopeless cause but since may brother cannot seem to do it properly, the burden has fallen onto my shoulders. They just do not understand; none of them do! Jem Finch, my nephew is turning into a fine young gentleman on his own. Of course, he has his moments of immaturity, but what young boy does not? I can only do my best and pray that his sister turns out to be a proper lady but, if she continues to wear those ghastly overalls, she will get nowhere. To be a lady, one needs to dress the part. She needs to wear nice dresses and proper shoes. When younger, she needs to play with dolls and not spend her time climbing trees or tormenting other people. She needs to sit with poise and grace and speak with purpose and not ramble on about absolutely anything. Speaking of rambling, I am rambling, am I not? well before I go, fellow bloggers ,I will leave you with a link to a sight that will help show you how a lady should properly dress.

this link even touches on men's dress.
Well, I will sign off for now. Until next time my fellow bloggers. Goodnight!
