To Keep the Maid...or ship her off... that is the current argument

Hello world of blogs! It is the wonderful Alexandra Finch once again. I'm blogging to tell you of another incident from my adventure filled life in Maycomb County. Today's problem is that Atticus will not be rid of the black maid, Calpurnia! here is a picture of her...

It has been OK having her around but then I found out what she did today and I decided that it was time to get rid of her. I was sitting calmly in the living room doing some embroidery, something this family does not understand, when I heard Jean Louise, my niece, for all of you that missed my first blog, mention that Calpurnia had taken her and Jem to the black church that day. I was so shocked that I put down my embroidery and just stared at her. Next I knew she was asking Atticus if she could go visit Calpurnia after church next Sunday! I could not believe my ears! After she threw a mighty fine fit when I told her that she could not, she ran off and I took that as an opportunity to convince Atticus to throw Calpurnia out. Now, I'm not racist, but now that I am here, I do not see the point in having a maid. I tried to tell him that but he would have none of it, saying that the family needed her more than ever and that he saw no harm in Jean Louise going out there. I’ll say, if Atticus keeps letting his daughter run around and get involved in a black maid’s personal life; she will never grow up to be the proper Finch lady that she is supposed to be! Sigh, it is times like these when I remember why I moved down here. These children, especially Miss Jean Louise, need to start acting like Finches! But I am exhausted from all this arguing with Atticus about Calpurnia so I am going to sign out but do not fret, I will be back later. For now I say goodbye and goodnight.
